View the Annual Whale Migration off the Mendocino Coast

The annual gray whale migration begins in October when pregnant mothers leave the Bering Strait and head south to the warmer, safer waters of Baja, Mexico. In mid-February, the whales can be seen heading north again with their new calves. Mother whales stick to shallow waters to save their young from killer whales and can be seen from the coast.
